(In 2002) Since graduation in 1962, I essentially have been a stay-at-home wife and mother. The family has moved from IL, to CA, to FL, to IL, to OR, to AK, to IN, to FL, to IL, to AZ and finally to
CA, following military, college and job pportunities. Since moving to CA seventeen years ago, I have worked as a legal secretary/assistant, and am currently working for a new law firm.

I have been on my own since 1994 and have done well in spite of the alternating good and bad times. My "rainbow" family of seven children has increased with spouses and significant others, and now includes six grandchildren, with a grandchild due in September and another due in March. When all manage to get together at my house, it looks like a United Nations gathering and sounds like one too!

My interests are many and varied. For years I have been trying to keep the family genealogy current. My older brother Jim has taken over some of the responsibilities, so between the two of us, we may make some progress.

My largest project this past year has been aking "lap" quilts for all of my children, their spouses and the grandchildren. And I have a goal of eventually making bed- sized quilts for all of them.

I am compiling a cook book for my children - "Mom's Favorite Recipes" or some such title. This will put a stop to the repeated requests for "this" recipe and that "recipe".

I read everything I get my hands on. Lately it has been from my oldest son's sci-fi paperback collection, as I haven't had time to go to the book store or the library. (My son currently has over 5,000 paperback books, so I have plenty to choose from.)

I am a member of The Festival Singers, which is a community chorus celebrating its 20th year of existence. The Festival Singers sing everything from Bach to Broadway. The group has sung in Carnegie Hall in New York (yes, I sang in Carnegie Hall), at Disneyland, and at an Angels' baseball game, among many other venues. Our concert in June was a mixture of songs: Broadway, pops and spiritual. We had the honor of having a world-renowned professional singer by the name of Michael Morgan join us at this June concert, which was rumored to be our best concert ever.

Although I have told my children that I'm going to spend two months of every year with each of them when I retire (one child will be first on the list for the following year), I sincerely doubt that will happen. I don't really know what the future brings, but with the Lord's help, I will take it a day at a time. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing everyone in September.
